Our Strategy

…at Portas Ventures, we believe that significant investment opportunities are forming in the renewable energy sector given the evolving nature of global energy consumption.  We are seeing unprecedented growth in the consumption of fossil fuels throughout the developing world. We believe new developments in the US clean technology sector will improve our global competitiveness by reducing our dependence on dwindling foreign sources of energy.  An important factor in achieving this outcome is to leverage and expand on the rich history of technical innovation that resides within the US.

Portas Ventures is looking for companies in need of early stage funding of up to $1 million to commercialize and expand. We intend to invest in capital efficient businesses across multiple clean technology sectors. Areas of particular interest include; renewable energy, storage of energy from renewable sources (green electrons), energy efficiency, and advanced materials.

Our Strategy is straightforward;  Invest in start-up teams with great people, that have the passion and perseverance to see their idea(s) through the "thick and thin" of building a great company... and we have the duty to do the same.

 

Update: Recent fact finding trips to China and India have only strengthened our belief in this thesis.  The US still has an inherent competitive advantage, but the race is on.
